You're a Listener and you don't get it...

When you're unemployed in radio you feel isolated.. you're not at the gig.. you can't bitch about sales or programming. You feel like you are in the Twilight Zone... and before long you are talking to yourself and other entities. When radio is in your blood, being unemployed is really hard. Every time you turn on the radio you find yourself criticizing the work of others... That bit sucked! God, what a poor promo! I hope the client didn't pay for that spot! I could do better than than on my worst day!... and on and on...

Having radio in your blood and being unemployed is not a lot of fun but the most important thing is that you have a shot at getting your life back as well as getting a job that doesn't involve Arbitron, Program Directors and a request line.

KRUD Listener Tip:   Radio is a great business but it eats its young. If you're planning a career in radio make sure you have some skills to fall back on so that when the day comes that you find yourself unemployed you won't be talking to dead people.
